Hosting a Karaoke Party
We recommend the CAVS -203G USB Karaoke Player because
SuperDiscs can hold approx 1,000 songs, virtually eliminating the need to change
discs plus… it has an external hard drive which can hold thousands of songs,
either on a memory stick or a hard-drive. Digital karaoke music is here and it’s
the future. We also recommend our Digital Karaoke Jukebox which has a
karaoke feature and can hold thousands of karaoke songs, along with video and
audio music.
… Put on a party song like “Let’s Get
This Party Started” by Pink, while you set up, then try these
…
Warm up the crowd - with a short 2 minute warm up
…
Lower the music volume and introduce yourself. Then, explain that
everyone will have a chance to be a “star” so encourage everyone to pick a song
from the songbook that they’d like to sing, even if they’re not sure they want
to. Use the remote to raise up the music and get ready to start the show in the
next step.
Involve the audience - they are the STARS
…
One mistake that many Karaoke Jocks make is that, even if you can sing, you
must resist. Duets with guests are fine but you singing all night is boring for
the guests. Introduce your guests as THE STARS. Get the guests
singing together first. Play something like “New York, New York” because
everyone knows the words.” Work the room with your microphone, approaching
guests with the mic. Hopefully this will encourage them to put their names on
the list and get into the singing mode.
Use original artist music …
Timing is everything. Fill the ‘gaps’ with other music … use our video
and audio music from our music supplier Visual Sounds on your Digital
Jukebox. This creates a fun, vibrant and party atmosphere. Your CAVS
Karaoke System and Jukebox should contain thousands of karaoke songs and 1-2,000
non-Karaoke songs – Visual Sounds video and audio songs – so you can choose the
music to fit the crowd. The remote control will allow you to program the Karaoke
songs and other music so you can mingle with the crowd and get others to sign on
with their karaoke song choice.
Get them up dancing through the night
…
I have seen a whole room full of folks that need a little push to get the
party going. Break away from the Karaoke for a short while and spice up the
party with party songs and Dance Mixes. Include Macarena, Electric Boogie OR
Cha-Cha Slide among your choices to get everyone involved, then come back to the
Karaoke action. Pick music appropriate to your audience and you’ll be a hit.
Give away prizes …
There is nothing better then winning a prize, even if it is a cheap.
Make some trophies with “Karaoke Star” engraved. Everyone likes to be a
winner!
Keep them clapping and cheering
…
Many karaoke singers feel like they actually can sing and it’s up to you to
make them continue to feel that way so encourage them with an upbeat
introduction as if they are appearing on Australian Idol or Singing Bee and
congratulate them when they’ve finished their song.
Be Yourself …
It’s most important to be comfortable and confident as the MC of a Karaoke
party. The guests are depending on you so be yourself, using whatever you can to
make the night fun and entertaining.
